Mustard, one of the oldest and most widely used spices is your go-to zest. These baths are a traditional remedy in England. Used for the treatment of colds, stress, fatigued, achy muscles, fever and congestion.

Known to stimulate the sweat glands, opening the pores and helping the body rid itself of toxins. When this happens, circulation is improved, congestion is relieved and pain is eased.

These Baths have been traditionally used for detoxification and purification. In many parts of the world Mustard is well-known for its therapeutic value when used in a bath, helping to increase circulation, oxygenation and the elimination of toxins. The outward application contributes to general well-being by activating the largest organ of elimination in the body: THE SKIN and helping to reduce the toxic load stored in tissues throughout the body.

In addition to mustard powder is the use of essential oils. The essential oils of wintergreen or peppermint, eucalyptus, and rosemary used for their therapeutic benefits. Assist reduce nerve pain, breathing and provide general antiseptic properties.

Step up on your bathing today…..

Ingredients to make 4 baths:

1 cup salt

1 cup baking soda

1/4 cup mustard powder

6 drops wintergreen or peppermint essential oil

6 drops rosemary essential oil

Six drops eucalyptus essential oil

Place all of the ingredients in a storage jar and mix together. Add 4 Tablespoons to a running bath and swish around to disperse the powder. For a foot soak, use 1-2 Tablespoons.

In a large non-reactive bowl combine the salts, mustard powder, powdered milk and baking soda. Whisk to get rid of any clumps and ensure ingredients well incorporated. Add essential oils. Start with 12 drops of each scent, then whisk. Continue adding the oils (a few drops at a time then whisking) until the bath salts reach the desired level of scent.

While the bath water is running add approximately 1/4 cup of my mustard bath mixture. Make sure that the temperature is warm, not scorching. As the tub is filling and before getting in, I recommend using a natural bristle brush to dry brush your body. Dry brushing helps exfoliate skin, eliminate toxins and open your pores. With gentle strokes brush your entire body, always in the direction of your heart (which follows lymphatic flow). Light a few candles, grab a glass of water or herbal tea, play some music and enjoy! Soak for 15-20 minutes. After bathing take a brief cool shower to rinse your body. Dry off, moisturize skin (coconut oil is great for this) and put on some comfy clothes. Do not soak longer than 20 min in a hot tub, could be dangerous for the heart.

Off to bed you go…….
