A need to know mommies…..

“Essential oils are perfect for helping to soothe the mind and body at the end of a stressful day. Synthetic sleep aids can have unwanted side effects on your body, however pure essential oils are a 100% natural way to help the mind and body relax.

Soothing Essential Oils:

Soothing Oils: lavender, Serenity blend, ylang ylang, Roman chamomile, bergamot, rose, vetiver, melissa, geranium, Citrus Bliss, orange, and clary sage.

Sleeping and Relaxing Tips:

Diffusion: Diffuse your favourite soothing oils (listed above) to help you feel calm and relaxed before falling asleep. I like to diffuse Serenity and drink a hot cup of tea with lemon essential oil added to it while I wind down for bed.

Pillow: Place a drop or two of a soothing essential oil blend on your pillow or a stuffed animal.

Relaxing Bath: Follow my tips HERE on taking a detox bath and add a soothing oil to the bath water.

Alternatively, essential oils can be used to invigorate and energize the body in the morning, at work, or whenever you feel tired.

Energizing Essential Oils:

Energizing Oils: white fir, lemon, Elevation blend, Citrus Bliss, peppermint, eucalyptus, basil, wintergreen and thyme.

Energizing Tips:

Diffusion: Diffuse an energizing oil (listed above) in the morning, at work, or during the afternoon slump.

Morning Coffee/Tea: add a few drops of peppermint, lemon or orange to your morning beverage or smoothie.

Energizing Morning Shower: Place a few drops of an energizing oil on the floor of the shower or in a bath gel for an invigorating morning shower!

Exercise Tips:

Muscle Soothing: Massage essential oils like Deep Blue soothing blend (Deep Blue also makes a lotion rub!) into your muscles and joints before and/or after exercise to help soothe and relax sore muscles.

Yoga: Diffuse or inhale oils like sandalwood and frankincense to help enhance focus and meditation.

Home Atmosphere Tips:

The gentle aroma of essential oils can greatly contribute to creating the right atmosphere at home. Studies have shown that some oils can help the home feel warm and inviting, while others can help reduce anxiety. Below are some ideas to help you.

Calming/Relaxing oils to place in a diffuser: Lavender, Serenity blend, ylang ylang, Roman chamomile, orange, sandalwood, and rose can all help you relax and calm your body after a long day. They are, also, wonderful for helping children feel calm.

Uplifting/Invigorating oils to place in a diffuser: lemon, grapefruit, Elevation or other citrus scents help to promote a refreshing atmosphere. These are great to use when you have company over.

Office/School Tips:

Memory/Concentration: Studies have demonstrated that the aromas of rosemary and peppermint help to enhance memory and alertness. Try inhaling them when studying or learning. You can diffuse oils such as lavender, lemon, and rosemary to help with concentration. Great oils to use if you home school!

Tired Eye Spray: add six drops lavender, Roman chamomile, or melaleuca to 1oz. water in a small spray bottle. Mist onto face. CAUTION: be sure to keep your eyes closed. Never spray the oils directly into your eyes.

Refreshing:

Inhale or diffuse peppermint, Elevation blend, or eucalyptus as needed throughout your day.
