IMSYSER Tip of the day!

“Being aware of my body and my surroundings is something I’ve always had to work on. It never came easy. It was like a muscle that needed to be flexed, over and over again. And then when I was emotionally eating throughout my teens, and into my 20s, at some point, I realized that I had to extend mindfulness into my meals, too.

Honestly, I’m not even sure I agree with the word “mindfulness,” because to me, it means, quite literally, “being full of the mind, ” and that is exactly what we don’t want to do when we are eating. We want to be full of the moment of the experience and to engage the mind in that mystery of the unfolding. There can be different definitions depending on your orientation.

That said, the “mindfulness” train has left the station. You see it in research, in books, in the media. Mindfulness is becoming an important trend, and I’m glad it’s reached this level of visibility, even though this concept and practice has been around in various spiritual traditions for ages.

Rapid, mindless eating could be causing more health issues than we realise. In this era of constant distraction and high-stress lifestyles, more studies have emerged demonstrating the negative effects that mindless eating has on our health.

Other studies have highlighted the health-boosting effects that we’re losing when we cram in a quick meal. By not taking the time to fully immerse ourselves in a meal, we are taxing our body more than we are nourishing it. Mindless eating may be wreaking havoc on your health – let’s look at three ways to bring mindfulness back into our meals.”
